I would like to extend an open invitation to anyone with a Sacramento area home to sell to promote their listing on this blog and our network of local real estate web sites.
Naturally for our own listings we provide this service free as part of our promotion efforts. The reason we want to offer it to other agents and to sellers who haven’t listed with us is simple: because the folks visiting our web site are often buyers who love our search tools, we often tend to get so busy with buyers that we don’t have our own listings to promote.
And of course, the fact that our web site caters primarily to buyers is the kind of thing you want if you’re looking to promote your listing. Win / win.
The only requirement is that the home be listed in our local MLS, Metrolist. The reason for this is not that I hate For Sale By Owner Homes on principle, but because the MLS rules say I can’t mix them with their listings.
If that sounds to you like we work under the influence of powerful and pathological monopolies, then I congratulate you for paying attention.
If you’re a seller, simply contact us with either your address or your MLS number and your real name (for security purposes, we check the tax roles). In your notes, please make sure you let us know who your agent is AND (this is important), that you’ve advised him or her that you’ve asked us to promote your listing. The reason this is important is that technically, your agent’s broker “owns” the listing you sign, so we don’t want to get on their bad side.
Well, OK, we DO want to get on their bad side, but we want to do it by stealing their agents, not their listings.
We have our principles.
If you’re an agent from another company and your listings are attractive and well priced, this offer also applies to you. Of course, we all know that if your listings are well priced you won’t really need to promote them here, so feel free to bring your OPTs as well. (For those of you who are not in the business, that would be “Over-Priced Turkey”).
I’m not worried about fooling any buyers with it – I haven’t met a home buyer yet who didn’t do their homework. There’s something about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars that brings out the researcher in all of us.
Finally, if you’re a seller and are interested in either a traditional full service listing or a simple MLS entry, well of course we’re happy to discuss how we can help you there as well.
