Is Intel Moving More Workers to Folsom?
I heard a bit of a rumor that Intel is asking more of their workers to move out of locations in the Bay Area to their location in Folsom. So far, according to the story, the move is voluntary, but my source tells me he believes it may signal more Intel facilities eventually being moved out here.
Naturally, if true, and if AMD follows suit as he expects it to, that’s great news for our economy out here.
Has anyone heard anything along these lines?

Your source has wrong information.

Baloney. You’re really getting desperate now. Tell your FB’s to start dropping prices already.

I’d look for a new profession. Realtors in CA, vegas and other similar areas are going to be out of business for a while. Except for those that really have there SH*T together. Sacramento is going to be a dead horse for years to come.

Truth that one small part of Intel may be consolidating workers into some sites that include Folsom. But it’s not going to be a big boom anywhere. Especially since that same action is likely to include some layoffs.

The good news according to WSJ is that Intel is adding 800 jobs at Folsom.
Bad news?: Article is dated June 24, 1993. Oh well.

Fresno is in better shape than Sac. (And the clicky link is a bit more recent).

Bob and BlueMarble, thanks for the clarification.
Wagga, I don’t see how a 1993 article about Intel or an article on Fresno mortgages sheds any light on what I was asking about, which is whether anyone has heard if Intel has current plans to move here. They either do or they don’t. Yes, it’s clever, you wagged some scarey news articles about my business under my nose. It doesn’t answer the question though.
Suzanne, I’m not desperate — I don’t particularly care because my business is going just fine. I closed a couple of escrows personally last month and one so far this month, let alone those my agents are doing. I posed the question because a past client of mine had heard it from some friends, was curious and asked me to blog about it.
Aaron, I was told to get a new profession two years ago, and far from being out of business, I have a bigger team than ever and we’re doing just fine. People are still buying and selling houses — see above. I expect they’ll still be doing it two years from now and some other Internet busy-body will be threatening me with impending financial doom if I don’t switch jobs.
I have no idea who Casey Serin is, but by all means, I’m sure he or she is more than a little anxious to get his / her fan club back. Don’t let me keep you.
Look, all I asked was a simple question about a rumor I heard about Intel’s plans. If it’s not true, it’s not true, as Bob Sadenko pointed out succinctly and BigBlueMarble did eloquently. I want to say we’ve probably had one Intel employee out of about the last seventy escrows, so it’s not the end of my world either way.

Interesting. My Intel intel is that the Chandler, AZ, location will be picking up workers (even after the Marvel transistion) and that the Sac RE market is going to tank.
