There are a lot of fixes for this:
1) Don’t shoot the window, because it ruins the exposure on the rest of the picture. Or close the shades, turn on all the lights, and try it again.

2) Try fixing it in PaintShop or Photoshop or the like — press the one step photo fix. Here’s how this one came out. Still not great, but hey look — there’s a door, and a fireplace.

3) When all else fails, if you have other photos that show the house better — just don’t add it.
This one’s not really too horrible.
But the caption reads “Large back yard, imagine the possibilities”. OK, I’ll bite. Did a pillow explode? What’s that white stuff?

Of course this is a garage, but what does this photo do from a marketing perspective?
Some photos should stay on the agent’s computer and not be uploaded.

Clear the stuff out first. Then shoot the picture.
Then again Santa is a nice touch.

Algae problem?
Ask your Doctor if chlorine is right for YOU!

Athol Kay’s Bad MLS Photos have sparked such a grassroots wellspring of excitement that people who can’t just put their bad photos up into the MLS willy nilly are having to find their own venues for their bad photos. Like Flickr, maybe?
Standin’ in the shadows of love…
This really isn’t a house, it’s a set in a Hollywood Movie.
No, I’m just kidding. It’s a house. It’s in Roseville. Believe it or not, this comes complete with three other sides, though it sure doesn’t look it.

OK, the photo strikes me as just a tad wider than it needs to be — chop a few pixels off either side, maybe.
I don’t care. It’s my web site and I’ll crop if I want to.
Why I love it:
- Colonial. I love colonials. If you were my RealtorĀ®, I’d have you out looking for colonials.
- Shot at twilight with the lights all on — the classic welcome home shot.
- It’s in Fair Oaks. That’s what I’m talkin’ about. Fair oaks is to neigborhood as colonial is to architecture. (That was probably on your SATs).
- Supported by the rest of the photos.
This is another Lyon listing. It looks like there’s no moss growing on them this month. Nicely done.
Here’s the flier.
That’s what I’m talkin’ about.
In keeping with the Manichean promise I made to one of my blogging heroes, Athol Kay, here as promised is my Good MLS Photo of the Day.
Yes, I want to live there.
No, I can’t afford it. I consider my real estate business to be successful, but it isn’t that successful.
Yet.
Yes it is listed for sale (by Lyon Real Estate). But as a rule, if you don’t have an agent yet, naturally one of my agents would be happy to show it to you.
But you knew that.
I ran across this photo while testing something out that will be the subject of my next post.
You know, come to think of it, based on the Good MLS Photo of the Day, one could easily do an MLS Photo of the Week, and a Guess The Price Contest. (With or without a “Guess the Comps” contest).
Wow. One could get out from under real estate market data, with a little luck.
