El Dorado County includes several top rated districts and schools, including Buckeye Union Elementary in Cameron Park / Shingle Springs, and Oak Ridge and Ponderosa High. Indeed, the high quality of the schools in this area is often cited as a major reason for the slightly higher prices of El Dorado County as compared to Sacramento County. Naturally there's a bit of a chicken-egg problem with that analysis -- do the older homes in Sacramento county cause a lower tax base, and are the homes there less expensive because they're older, or are buyers attracted to the better schools? To some extent I'm sure both factors are at work.
