Sacramento Seller's Library

Get the Facts Before You Meet an Agent

If you're thinking about selling your home, we at SellersLibrary.com believe you should have all the facts before you call an agent.

We're passionate about working with informed consumers because we recently learned a startling statistic: Even in the hottest markets, only some 75% of homes listed in the MLS actually sell!. We heard that at a conference, and as soon as we got back we verified it in our Sacramento area market. Sure enough, in a month in one of the biggest "seller's market" years on record, we confirmed that only some 72% of the homes listed actually sold. (The rest either expired or were withdrawn from the market). Moreover, the numbers were only marginally better even when we looked at one of the top listing agents in our area (76 percent sold, 24% expired, etc.)

We won't stop until we hit 100%

I don't know about you, but I think a 25% failure rate for our profession as a whole is dismal. Instead, we believe it's our duty as sales professionals to make think that we owe it to each and every seller we represent to sell their home in a timely fashion. We heard a saying once: "It's no sin to fail -- but on the other hand it's no great honor either." Imagine a bank teller who handled your transaction correctly 75% of the time. Or a roofer who advertised "75% of our roofs don't leak" As I'm writing this I'm sitting on an airplane coming back from a vacation, and sure hope that the pilot lands successfully a bit more than 75% of the time. Frankly, 100% works for me!
